  Going to Apostate Church

  how many of you had gone visiting any apostate church when you were still in?

  what was your feeling?

  my bf went to my church with me once, i wonder how he felt....

  The first church I entered as a JW was the Vatican! As an art and history lover, I saw it more from those angles, although the brain-washed part of me saw it as "Babylon the Great".

  After I left the JWs, an ex-JW couple invited me to attend their church. It was a small but very old Anglican church, one that I could have imagined my grandparents attending. It was nice and simple. I was slightly apprehensive at first, but I soon realised it was just a building filled with people who wanted to worship their God.

  Ten yrs later, I don't have any problems with entering a church. I'm no longer a believer in God, but I respect people's right to worship.

  1947 =Australian Witnesses forced apology for involvement in World War 2!!!

  australia bethel in the 1940's was making big money!

  they used "bethelites" to run 2 bakeries, a saw mill, 20 "kingdom" farms and an engineering company.

  bethel arranged to wash soldiers uniforms at their laundry???

  Any work the JWs may have done wasn't appreciated by the Aust Govt.

  The Aussie JWs used to have a radio channel that had a transmission tower on the Sydney coastline. During WW2, possibly in 1943 when the JWs were banned in Australia, the authorities made the JWs take down the tower because they were afraid the JWs might have been transmitting secret codes to the enemy (ie Nazi Germany).

  This info is important to me because my mother and grandmother were JWs during the 1943 ban. They had policemen come through their house looking for literature. So while my family were in danger of being arrested for being JWs, the Australian branch were working hand in hand with the Aust Govt!

  In a funeral... or when the JWs want to show they're different

  a couple of days ago i went to the funeral of an old age brother in his 80s.. well, that was the typical jw funeral although his daughter and the rest of his family are not witnesses.

  as you know the brothers don't wear black clothes nor they show lot of sadness as a "prove" they believe in resurrection.. the problem this time is some of them went too far.

  two sisters had red clothing and at the entrance a group of brothers were literally laughing.

  It was 25 years ago.

  It is possible that JW funerals have changed since then, just as the Borg has changed.

  The first JW funeral I ever attended was my mother's, back in 1981. The elder who gave the talk was a family friend who, along with his wife, sat with my mother in her final days so that my dad had a chance to go home to sleep and shower. He was virtually in tears giving that talk. And the hall was packed.

  Wearing black: I was under the impression that the Borg discouraged JWs from wearing black at a funeral, as it copied "the world". I've seen all colours at funerals, although most tend to wear subdued colours. But then, so do "worldly" aka non-JW people.

  Members of New Zealand Families Who've Left the Org...

  in the ten years or so since we (bigmouth and one of twelve) left the wts i've sometimes wondered about our family members and their children who might have also left and felt isolated.. i'm thinking of some big families and extended families particularly the preece's, collards, keoghan's, gibbes and tocher's.. if you know any of these families why not post here and say hello.

  you don't need to give your name and if you want to know who we are, just send a personal message and i'll tell you.. we have no need to hide from anyone now and it might just be nice to hear each others experiences and answer some questions..

  how would you react if someone quoted you a price of over half a million us dollar$ to put up a wall of greenery at the assembly hall in ajalvir, spain?.

  jhk's blog quotes spanish ex-jw's forum member nizam saying that the spanish brothers are aghast with the plan to close down the assembly hall at ajalvir, torrejon, (near madrid), spain.

  the renovation will replace an outside terrace with a wall of greenery.

  some jw's claimed that when they were out door to door that they could feel the angels guiding them and jehovahs spirt apon them.. others claimed this when having prayed felt a sense of calm afterwards.
